Conflict Of Interest - Joe Bidden And Xi Jinping Policies - Joe Biden Policy To Counter China
Joe Biden and Donald Trump share different points of view related to China. Post decimation of Russia, China emerged as a new competitor for the world's only superpower US. According to US intelligence China poses the biggest threat to US interest. China's present regime expects more favourable behaviour from the US. On the other hand, the US tried to build an international coalition against China. US-China relation is strained due to a couple of reasons. The US blames China for the deterioration. For the last couple of years, China has lowered down the value of the yuan to gain an upper hand over the US. The South China Sea turned out to be a new conflict zone between the two superpowers. The US sent two aircraft carriers to the South China Sea to maintain a close vigil over China. Till now nothing has worked for the US. They failed to dominate China. The US needs to depend on old conventional policy and build a coalition with its old allies like the UK, Germany, France, Japan and newly emerging power India to emerge as victorious from the ongoing conflict of interest with china. India already successfully blocked China in Ladakh. The US needs to enhance cooperation with India, which is a power to reckon with in the Indian Ocean region. India's dominance over the Indian ocean will block the emergence of China as the single largest power in the Asia-Pacific region. Newly elected vice-president of US Kamala Harris stated that Trump lost the battle against China as later one dominates trade war.
According to some US decision-makers, Biden needs to renegotiate with China. There is a huge bilateral trade deficit between the US and China. Here China maintained an upper hand over the US which irked the upper-class echelon of the US. Former US president squarely blamed China for the Covid19 pandemic and took a stiff stand over China over the Hong Kong standoff. China's policy over Uighur Muslims cast aspersion on Chinese government. Many western countries denounced China and asked Xi Jinping to withdraw the hardcore stance against the Uighur tribe, which falls on deaf ears of the Chinese Communist government. Even the US makes a lot of hue and cry but failed to take any tough stand against the authoritative government of China.
Conflict Of Interest - Quad V/S China
Trump was very vocal about the Tibetan issue, which irked China. The US needs to protect Taiwan from the clutches of China, a tiny nation that exists on the periphery of China. US built QUAd, which is an alliance of four nations, the US, India, Japan and Australia to block China in the Indo-Pacific region. The UK and France gave moral support to the alliance. QUAD has the capability to withstand China and protect minnows like Vietnam, the Philippines, Singapore, South Korea, Taiwan.
Conflict Of Interest - Us V/S China
China wants to dominate the whole world with its economic might and military power. China has conflict of interest with all the major powers of the world. China already has the biggest navy in the world surpassing the US. Post Covid-19 pandemic US influence debilitates gradually over the world, even country like Iran, North Korea started to challenge the US might. China started to increase its influence over the world with Belt and Road policy, to connect all over the world through one belt and one road policy to spread Chinese products to every nook and corner of the world. A couple of countries i.e. USA, Japan, India are the biggest block against the growing influence of China. US and China are the biggest trading partner and dependence on each other economically are quite evident. Before the Covid-19 onslaught, Donald Trump treated Xi Jinping as a friend. The Covid-19 pandemic worsened the economic situation in the US and has a devastating impact on bilateral ties. Chinese President Xi Jinping tries to reduce the Chinese dependence on the US and strengthen the internal market. A robust internal market will reduce the Chinese dependency on the US and protect the Chinese economy from outside turbulence. China is already taking all the precautions for the long time clash with the US, which various Chinese politicians consider as a declining power. In 2018, Trump imposed a tariff on $250 billion worth of Chinese products, which was reciprocated by the Chinese regime too. Bilateral trade with China decimates job opportunities in the US manufacturing sector. China for a prolonged time practice intellectual property theft and forcefully transfer of technologies, which cost the USA high-value-added job manufacturing.
The Chinese economy made a of long strides in the last couple of decades, which is astonishing for the rest of the world is. The Chinese Communist Party believes in autocracy. Chinese regime dislikes against democracy is well known. China suppressed a major student movent which was recalled as the Tiananmen Square movement (1989) with the help of the tank regiment. The Tiananmen Square movement is known as one of the biggest revolutions for democracy. Recently Chinese regime suppressed the Hong Kong revolt, which was carried out by general citizens of Hong Kong for democracy and independence. The US and other democratic nations like India, UK snub China for their scant respect for opposite political views. Chinese regime was scared about the US might form an anti-Chinese block to counter the Chinese authoritative regime. US decision to support Taiwan penetrate the Chinese brinkmanship. Joe Biden economic policies are not different from the previous president Donald Trump. Biden did not remove the tariff on $250 billion worth of Chinese products imposed by Donald Trump. Biden has a lot of issues to counter Chinese hegemonistic policies. In a recent G-7 meeting Biden stressed the formation of an alliance to counter China on issues like human rights abuse, artificially controlling the value of the Yuan and controlling the domestic market. He stressed the need for an alternative project of the Chinese Belt and Road policy. President Joe Bidden tried to revamp the US economy which stressed infrastructure development, job creation, recuperate manufacturing industries to scuttle the Chinese bid to surpass the US and become the numero uno economy of the world.
Biden should come in close proximity with India to deter China as both countries have conflict of interest with China. During the Donald Trump regime, India became a major defence partner of the US. Both should work in tandem to overcome the negative impact of Chinese sponsored Covid19. Kamala Harris already stated that the US will reach out to India to build a power block against China. Biden will try to rejuvenate the influence enjoyed by the US before the onset of the Donald Trump regime. From India's perspective more favourable US policy for India. If the two democracies work together as a close-knit team, will usher in a new era for Indo Pacific region.
