Conflict Of Interest - Us And China

In the 21st century, the USA is the only superpower in the world. No other country has a superpower tag like the USA. Financial superiority and unmatched military power turned the USA into a numero uno in the world. It is unimaginable for other countries to match the magnanimity of the USA. A Few decades back,  the situation was quite different. During the 70s, we had observed the clash between the two superpowers, one in the USA and the other is the USSR, the United States of Soviet Russia. One believed in capitalism and the other trusted Communism. There was a third front, named Non-Aligned Nations, which maintained equidistance from both superpowers. The scenario was quite different before the advent of the second world war. England and France were the superpower and Germany was an emerging power. That was the period of colonialism. The Germany had conflict of interest over Britain and France during 1930-40.

The second world war drastically altered the power structure. Germany, Japan and Italy were decimated. England and France crumbled. Which paved the way for the USA and Russia to become new superpowers. Both the USA and USSR tried their level best to crush each other, in every aspect i.e. military, economy and international politics. The USA and USSR tried their level best to increase their flock. The USA influenced Western Europe and Eastern Europe standing behind the USSR. This battle of attrition never converted into a war-like situation, due to the praiseworthy conduct of the United Nations.

Derision of Communism and Emergence of China

USSR failed to maintain the momentum for a prolonged time and crumbled under its own contradictions. The conflict of inbterest with US wrecked havoc on USSR. The economic growth of the USSR slowed down steadily and later reached a fragile stage. Economists blamed communism for this derision. A huge defence budget burdened the stagnant economy, which resulted in the disintegration of the USSR during the 90s. Many small countries cropped up from the crops of the USSR. The dominance of the USA remains unchallenged.

China remained indifferent to all these changes and did not lend a helping hand to USSR to revived itself from the conflict of interest with US, although China believes in Communism. During the heyday of communism, both USSR and China tried to spread the dogma of communism. Soon China understood that Communism is not potent enough to bolster the fragile Chinese economy. Later Chinese regime under the leadership of Mao embraced capitalism to turn China into a vigorous economic power. The Communist regime of China boosted the relationship with the USA with the help of Ping-Pong diplomacy, which altered China into a major economic power. Soon China became the fastest growing economy and started to modernize its infrastructure of defence. During the 90s, China became the third-largest economic and military power followed by the USA, Russia. During 2015. 

The USA started to lose their dominance with economic growth screeching to halt. Under the stewardship of Donald Trump, the depleted USA left the space for China to increase its outreach. China started to increase its domain with two-pronged strategies. First is lending money to weak economies and second is the spread of belt and road strategy. Many countries failed to pay back the debt and handed over their seaport to China In accordance with the accord signed by the two countries. A recent example is the Hambantota port of Sri Lanka. China used those ports to enhance its naval presence and keep a close look at the ship movement of rival countries. The Emergence of China as a superpower will have a negative impact on the world. China's current regime believed in autocracy and their dislike for democracy is well known. The brutal suppression of the Tienanmen Square Movement, repressive attitude towards the Dalai Lama reflect the non-democratic attitude of this government. China developed friendly relations with obnoxious countries like Pakistan and North Korea inflated the doubts about Chinese intentions.

Chinese Hegemonic Approach

Chinese claims on Taiwan, reefs near the seawater of Vietnam, Japan, South Korea, Philippines cast aspersion on the Chinese political approach and creates a conflcit of interest with neighbouring countries. The USA built a QUAD alliance to withstand China in the South China Sea. Napoleon Bonaparte once stated that "the whole world will be astonished when China awakens from the deep slumber. Chinese incursion into other countries' economies and crushed the indigenous production house to export the Chinese made product, create a tremor in the world economy. Chinese incursion into other countries' technologies, replicating those technologies bolstered Chinese hegemony.

Chinese current regime bribed political stalwarts of other countries to remove all the barriers which block the Chinese economic incursions. The omnipotent USA was not spared. Many congressmen were bribed to follow the Chinese strategy. This strategy increased the peripheral of the Chinese economy multi-fold. Chinese economy already surpassed the USA and became the numero uno in the world. Depleted USA economy can not match the inflated Chinese economic power. The severe outcome of Chinese emergence will defeat the democratic principle followed by several countries and promote an authoritarian power structure. The economy of a small, trivial country will be ground and the world market will be flooded with cheap Chinese products.

How to stop the Chinese dominance

Every nation should impose an anti-dumping tax on Chinese products to stop the infiltration of Chinese goods into the local market. Need to boost the local production houses with some sort of tax relief. The rest of the world should follow the example set by the Indian government. Post Galwan valley clash, India banned 68 Chinese apps and promoted apps made by local IT experts. Prime minister Narendran Modi blocked the dumping of Chinese goods into Indian ports. Leading economies need to block the Chinese strategy to buy the share of dilapidated companies and provide talismans to those companies, which are suffering inertia due to Covid 19 outbreak.

China has a twin strategy to expand its global outreach. One is to influence the other countries by granting loans and the second is to occupy the port of the small countries, which falls under the Chinese debt trap. This port will be converted into the Chinese naval base to keep a close look at the ship movement of stalwart countries.

Covid19 and sudden expansion of Chinese economic clout

Many renowned political analysts opined that China intentionally spread the coronavirus (7th stage) to inundate the world economy into a deep slumber and spread its own influence all over the world. The United Nations and WHO needs to conduct a joint investigation to find out the origin of Covid19 and take strong action against those who are found guilty.
